Artificial Intelligence in Art

With the advent of Artificial Intelligence into our lives, artistic production using AI has also begun. As someone who works in the field of AI and loves art, I have been involved in AI art since its inception. In fact, not only have I been involved, but we started a venture called Nuwa, through which we had the opportunity to physically showcase our AI-generated artworks in two exhibitions.🖼

Everything humanity has possessed has undergone change throughout history, and will continue to do so. Art is no exception to this. What we are trying to do with our art at Nuwa is to build a bridge between the past and the future.🌐

If Picasso, Monet, or Da Vinci were alive today and used AI tools, what kind of works would they produce? The same applies to music: in the awareness of the 21st century and the evolving world, what kind of music would Bach, Chopin, or Schoenberg produce if they were alive today? Especially considering that Schoenberg introduced atonal music in his own time.🎶

For these artists who are no longer alive, their biggest struggle was probably not being able to transfer the images in their minds onto the canvas as they wished, or to express the music playing in their heads as they desired. Now, let's rethink: are we trying to make art easier with AI, or are we giving breath to the abstract and creative images in our minds that we struggle to express?🧩

In a world where every era creates a new movement, why shouldn't AI be a tool for art? Nile Rodgers, the famous musician and producer from Hollywood, has a wonderful comment on this: "I think any tool that allows an artist to create is a wonderful thing." Absolutely. If art, in its most general definition, is the expression of creativity and imagination, then any tool that allows us to express that is part of art. There's no difference between this tool and a brush, canvas, or piano.🎹

Another topic being discussed here is whether human creativity comes from AI or from our own creativity. We know that AI has a productive side. However, it is we who enhance and guide that productivity. We shape the expression that we believe best reflects our imagination and creativity. In this case, instead of fighting against AI, we should embrace it, integrate it into our lives, and push it to a more correct point for all of us by adopting a human-centered approach to AI use.🤖

I believe that mankind's enemy is itself. In other words, as with any tool, AI is a tool that we have in our hands, and what we do with it is crucial. Like with other tools, this tool will reflect who we are. This is entirely about us.🎲

I, on the other hand, approach the issue from a completely different angle. Is AI creating new possibilities for us? Or is it providing us with an opportunity to uncover and make available the possibilities that already exist in the universe but that we have not been able to uncover? I think this is the point that really needs to be thought about.🎨

Perhaps in the future, we will instantly see or hear what appears in our minds, who knows!🌍
